The bots do not work with q3test106, as soon as someone figures it out, I'll add the q3tourneny map.

Setting things up

Install q3test. Note that the bots patch only works with version 105.

First you have to activate the bots in Q3test. The files are all very small and should take only a few seconds to download. Sorry if the instructions are insultingly detailed but I needed this sort of detail to get it working for me.

1. Rename the q3test\demoq3 directory to q3test\baseq3
2. Download the q3bots installer q3tbots-1_1.zip into your q3test directory
3. Download q3_1.bat and q3_2.bat into your q3test directory
4. Download q3_1.cfg and q3_2.cfg into your q3test\baseq3 directory
5. Unzip q3tbots-1_1.zip in your q3test directory
6. Fire up q3test.exe, set it up as a server
7. Select map q3test1
8. Pull down the console and type "nav gen". At this point, q3test generates a navigation file for the bots for map q3test1. It seems like it takes forever (3 to 5 min). The machine will appear to be hung. Eventually you will see the objects on the display or in the room start spin again, indicating it is done.
9. Test out the bots by typing "exec q3_1.cfg" at the console.
10. Be prepared to die.
11. Assuming you were greeted by the bots, set up the q3test2 level by setting up as server on q3test2 and typing "nav gen" at the console.
12. You can test it out by typing "exec q3_2.cfg" at the console.
13. Once you have set up bots for q3test1 and q3test2, you do not have to type "nav gen" again.

Launching the challenge

This part is easy. Just double click on the challenge launcher files q3_1.bat or q3_2.bat files from windows explorer. The bat files will automatically start up a q3test server on the appropriate map, set a 5 min time limit, and fire up 5 bot opponents.

Record your frags for both q3test1 and q3test2. The highest combined score "wins". Capture a screenshot if you want to document your score, but I'll take your word on it. Don't bother sending in your screen shots unless you are setting a new record.

Prizes

In keeping with the fun nature of this competion, there are not prizes as yet, although I may throw in my HalfLife cap that I won at a past Gammathon. Don't get too excited.
